About Vox Bar

Privacy-first tools, built independently

Vox Bar is an independent software product built in the United Kingdom, focused on powerful AI tools that run entirely on your own hardware.

The Problem We Solve

Most voice transcription tools send your audio to someone else's server. You pay a monthly subscription for the privilege, and in return, your conversations, meetings, and ideas pass through infrastructure you don't control.

We built Vox Bar because we believe that shouldn't be the only option. Modern GPUs are powerful enough to run state-of-the-art speech recognition locally. So we engineered a tool that does exactly that — real-time transcription, zero cloud dependency, no subscriptions.

How It Started

Vox Bar was built out of necessity. While working on AI-assisted development projects, I needed a way to communicate with AI tools without constantly switching between thinking and typing. Typing interrupts your flow — you break eye contact with the screen, lose your train of thought, and the idea you were about to articulate slips away.

I'd already built a suite of private productivity tools — data analysis pipelines, document converters, and local LLM-powered assistants — so I understood what was possible with on-device AI. When Mistral released their open-source Voxtral speech model, I saw an opportunity to solve the problem properly.

The first prototype took days. Within hours of using it, the productivity difference was undeniable. I pivoted my entire focus to refining it into a product worth sharing.

What Makes Vox Bar Different

🔒

Genuinely Private

Not "we promise we don't read your data" private. Architecturally private. The AI runs inside a Docker container on your machine. Your audio never leaves your hardware.

Overlay

A single-line floating interface that sits over any application. No competitor offers this. It's the feature that makes Vox Bar feel invisible until you need it.

💰

One Price, Forever

$29 once. No subscriptions, no usage limits, no API metering. You own the software outright. Updates for the version you purchased are included.

Battle-Tested Daily

I use Vox Bar every day across multiple monitors — for coding, documentation, AI conversations, and email. It's the tool I rely on, not just the one I sell.

The Vision

Voice-to-computer communication is going to become the default way we interact with software. As open-source models become smaller and more efficient, the hardware barrier will drop, and tools like Vox Bar will be running on any machine.

We're building for that future — starting now, with a tool that already delivers a 10x productivity improvement for anyone who works with text, code, or AI.

Independent Developer

Founder of Vox Bar · United Kingdom

I build privacy-first AI tools for people who want powerful software without compromising their data. Before Vox Bar, I built private data analysis tools, document converters, and local LLM assistants — all designed to run without cloud dependencies.

Vox Bar is the first product I'm sharing publicly. I built it because I needed it, I refined it because it worked, and I'm selling it because I believe everyone deserves tools this good.
